From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Data Conversion Laboratory, Inc. (DCL) is a data conversion company located in New York, New York.

DCL converts data from paper or electronic formats into formats like XML and SGML (the latter of which is widely considered to be outdated, but is still used in some government contexts).

The company is notable both for its early involvement in electronic data conversion (since 1981) as well as for its establishment of data conversion production centers on American Indian reservations [1].

DCL President Mark Gross authored the data conversion chapters in Charles Goldfarb's The XML Handbook [2] and in Bill Kasdorf's Columbia Guide to Digital Publishing [3].
