Pratibha Thapliyal is a IBBF bodybuilder. She won the gold medal at the 13th Mr. India Senior Women's Bodybuilding Competition in 2023, the bronze medal at the 55th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal, and another bronze at the 14th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Wonju City, South Korea.^[1]^[2] She was honored with the "Uttaranchal Nari Shakti Samman" by Uttaranchal University on International Women's Day for her contributions to bodybuilding and fitness advocacy.^[3] ^[4]^[5]

Early Life and Background[edit]

Pratibha Thapliyal was born and raised in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. During her school and college years, she was actively involved in sports, excelling in volleyball and cricket. Having been an athlete of the national level volleyball and Uttarakhand female cricket team, she had represented Uttarakhand as the captain of the state's volleyball team in her sports career during university time, showing her athletic prowess from an early age. After her marriage, Her foray into bodybuilding began after she encountered thyroid issues and was advised to exercise as a part of her health management regimen.

Pratibha is married to Bhupesh Thapliyal, who serves as her trainer and dietician. The couple has two sons. Bhupesh has played a pivotal role in Pratibha's bodybuilding career, encouraging her to pursue the sport after recognizing her natural aptitude for weight training.

On March 12th, 2023, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami honored Pratibha Thapliyal providing Sushma Swaraj Award in a program organized by Mahanagar Mahila Morcha Dehradun.

Pratibha was honored by Uttaranchal University with the "Uttaranchal Nari Shakti Samman" on International Women's Day, in recognition of her contributions and achievements in bodybuilding.
