Background

[edit]

Hi there! I am an independent paleontological researcher (associated with the University of Washington's Burke Museum as a research associate) whose day job is as a research data librarian at the University of Texas at Austin. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and my B.A. at Pomona College in the Department of Geology. I also completed several years of postdoctoral work at the University of Washington before pursuing a non-research career. My paleontological research interests are fairly broad (but do not include dinosaurs) and are primarily focused on Permo-Carboniferous tetrapods and Mesozoic temnospondyls.

You can find out more information on my personal website, read my (mostly) weekly blog, or follow me on Twitter!

Objectives on Wikipedia

[edit]

Most early tetrapod and temnospondyl pages are not well-curated, either being single-sentence stubs or poorly-cited blurbs that draw from popular science websites on the internet. As an active researcher (and blogger) in these areas with relatively easy access to primary academic sources, I am slowly beginning to review and update many of these pages to provide more accurate and cited information on these fascinating animals in this large public forum.
