I am an archaeologist with a specialism in the Early Middle Ages.
Other interests include astronomy and naval history.
I have several higher degrees from universities in the UK and Germany.
Modern languages I can cope with are (in order of declining competence) German, English, French and Russian.

I have created and/or edited English-language articles on early medieval sites in Eurasia, and on the history of archaeology.
I am interested in contributing to articles on warships, naval technology and warfare of the period between the 1880s (the decade in which the standard pre-Dreadnought type emerged) and 1923 (the year when the Washington Naval Treaty was ratified).
