In 2020, twelve songs reached number one, with "Post Humorous" by Gus Dapperton holding the longest run, spending fifteen weeks at the top, followed by Rina Sawayama's "XS" with twelve weeks. Fifteen artists reached number one, with each of them―070 Shake, BENEE, BROCKHAMPTON, Circa Waves, Gus Dapperton, Dreamer Boy, DYSN, Lil Baby, Lostboycrow, Rosalía, Sawayama, Travis Scott, Soccer Mommy and Weyes Blood―except Allie X, achieving the top spot for the first time. Notably, Dapperton was the only act to debut a song at number one.

"Post Humorous" by Gus Dapperton debuted atop the chart and held its run for fifteen non-consecutive weeks.
Rina Sawayama topped the chart for twelve consecutive weeks with "XS".

In 2021, fourteen songs reached number one, with "BDE" by Shygirl (featuring Slowthai) holding the longest run, spending eleven weeks at the top. Fifteen artists reached number one, with ten of them―bbno$, Phoebe Bridgers, Sam Gellaitry, Japanese Breakfast, Christian Leave, MUNA, Rich Brian, Shygirl, Slayyyter and Slowthai―achieving the top spot for the first time. Dreamer Boy, Gellaitry, Japanese Breakfast and Slayyyter led with two number-one songs each. Slayyyter also held the record for the most weeks at number one by any artist this year, with thirteen weeks in total. Notably, Japanese Breakfast and Slayyyter were the only acts to replace themselves at the top. Additionally, Gellaitry and Slayyyter were also the only acts to debut a song at number one.

In 2022, thirteen songs reached number one, with "Love Me More" by Mitski holding the longest run, spending twelve weeks at the top. Fourteen artists reached number one, with seven of them―Anna of the North, Omar Apollo, Ethel Cain, Lil Aaron, Mitski, Jon Ranes and Röyksopp―achieving the top spot for the first time. Rina Sawayama led with three number-one songs, followed by Apollo with two. Notably, Apollo and Sawayama were also the only acts to replace themselves at the top, with the latter doing so thrice. Additionally, the year featured seven Norwegian acts topping the chart, namely Anna of the North, Astrid S, Dagny, Ranes, Röyksopp, Sigrid and Susanne Sundfør, as well as two acts of Japanese descent, namely Mitski and Sawayama.

Rina Sawayama scored three number-one songs with "Catch Me in the Air", "Hold the Girl" and "This Hell", topping the chart for twelve consecutive weeks.

In 2022, the chart officially started allowing songs released more than a year ago to enter due to the increasing number of older songs becoming sleeper hits. This year, eighteen songs reached number one, with "Let Down" by Radiohead and "My Love Mine All Mine" by Mitski holding the longest run, each spending seven weeks at the top. Thirteen artists reached number one, with eight of them―Björk, Maude Latour, Orville Peck, PinkPantheress, Radiohead, Olivia Rodrigo, The Strokes and Valley―achieving the top spot for the first time. Caroline Polachek led with four number-one songs, followed by Radiohead with three and The Strokes with two. Notably, Polachek, Radiohead and The Strokes were also the only acts to replace themselves at the top, with the former doing so twice. Polachek, Troye Sivan and Valley were the only acts to debut a song at number one. Additionally, the year featured six sleeper hits―Peck's "Let Me Drown" (2022), Radiohead's "Jigsaw Falling into Place" (2007), "Let Down" and "No Surprises" (both 1997), and The Strokes' "The Adults Are Talking" and "Ode to the Mets" (both 2020)―topping the chart.

Eleven artists have reached number one, with seven of them―Lorde, Magdalena Bay, Mk.gee, Chappell Roan, St. Vincent, Vampire Weekend and Jessie Ware―achieving the top spot for the first time. Charli XCX currently leads with three number-one songs, followed by Magdalena Bay and Mk.gee with two each. Mk.gee also holds the record for the most weeks at number one by any artist this year, with fifteen weeks in total so far. Notably, Charli XCX, Magdalena Bay and Mk.gee are currently the only acts to replace themselves at the top, with Charli XCX doing so thrice.
