Kibirige Desire Edward (born March 14) is a Ugandan poet, novelist, short story writer, essayist, and playwright. He was born in Busia District, Uganda, to Kalule Peter, a businessman and Tukahirwa Naume Kalule, a businesswoman. Kibirige is the third born in a family of five siblings: Asiimwe Emily, Kyomugisha Jassy, Kagimu Enock, and Jjingo Ham.
Kibirige's passion for literature was nurtured by his parents, who introduced him to African literature. He attended several schools in Busia, including St. Jude Nursery and Primary School, Greens Nursery and Primary School, Ebenezer Junior Academy, Lubiri High School, and Busia Secondary School. He later pursued law studies at Islamic University in Uganda.
Kibirige has authored numerous works, including Bard Diaries, Miles Apart, Sunset Butterfly, Eight Days of Space, and Love’s Destination, which was published by Rakuten Books in 2021. His poetry anthology, The Pearl[1], edited by Zziwa Timothy in 2023, is considered one of the great Ugandan poetry anthologies.
Kibirige is also the founder and CEO of Desha Publishing House, where he continues to contribute to the literary world with his creative works. His dedication to writing and publishing has earned him several awards and honors, making him a prominent figure in Ugandan literature. ([[|Full article...]])
