Kevin Horvath Biography

Kevin F. Horvath was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1955 to G. John and Yolanda Horvath. Kevin attended St. Adalbert Grade School where he was an altar boy and played basketball and football. His 6th grade basketball won the ICCL championship beating Corpus Christi. In 8th grade he was the most valuable running back on the football team for the Eagles.

Kevin attended St. Joseph High School for one semester playing football for Father Bly and basketball for Bob Donewald. He transferred to Washington High the second semester of his Freshman year. There, He played basketball, baseball and football.

In football, Kevin was the Washington High School MVP and Mr Football for the Panthers. He was an NIC all conference defensive back. He was chosen as the South Bend Tribunes NIC most valuable player in the conference in 1972. He was an all state defensive back and punter. He played in the North South all star game, where he played defensive halfback, kicker and punter. Kevin won the game for the north team by interecepting a pass and returning it for a 40 yard touchdown. He also kicked the winning field goal to secure the win.

Kevin was also a Sunkist Honorable Mention All American Defensive back.

Kevin played college football for West Virginia State Yellow Jackets, where he was the punter and played defensive halfback and running back. He got to play at JFK stadium where he played defensive back against Howard University. He also had a tryout for the Atlanta Falcons as a punter in 1975. Kevin’s was honorable mention all conference as a freshman.
