Overusage of smart phones causes many health problems. These problems can be mental distress, poor posture or phone addiction.  Reading small front sized texts on smart phones can interfere with vision. When placed close to an eye, a smart phone causes eye strain, dry eye, blurred vision, and headaches. Reading texts without the use of external light worsens eye vision.  Reading and texting on smart phones causes text neck (spinal disorders). [edit]

Smart phones enable people to connect and share with family and friends, receive news and updates and also for entertainment. However, this comes at a cost. Smart phones have affected how people interact. People are spending more time in digital interaction than in human interaction and this has affected social relationships. Communicating, texting and social networking prevents young people from developing emotionally, behaviorally and socially.  Overuse of smart phones causes addiction.  They also cause sleeping disturbance because users often tend to access social networks and internet when they are supposed to sleep. People have  have developed the habit of checking their phones for message and e-mails all through the night when they are supposed to relax their brains. This Smartphone addiction is affecting the family and social life, and causing frictions in people’s lives. Furthermore, Smartphone causes workers to bring office work to home sphere. This in turn causes the family and work life to overlap leading to deteriorated work-family balance.  Simply put the higher incorporation of the home and work enabled by Smartphone lead to work-employ interference, which is perceived as a possible root cause of stress by bringing negative impact on family and employee social life.

Physically, Smart phone addiction can cause distraction and loss of concentration on tasks which demand physical engagement. Smartphone has taken over functions that the brain is able to conduct perfectly and Smartphone may be regarded as mental elevator  which deprived the brain of useful and basic functions[8]
