Early Life
[edit]She was born in August 1844 in Nottingham. Her parents were Henry George Carey and Catherine Carey. She had 4 sisters - Lucy Ann Carey, Mary Eliza Musson, Fanny Catherine Carey, Katie Watson Wallis, and 2 sisters - Robert Fredrick Carey and William Henry Carey. [1]
Occupations
[edit]Henrietta was associated with the Nottingham Town and Country Social Guild and with the Nottinghamshire Convalescent Homes. The guild provided blanket loans, ran a girls club and a cheap dinner scheme for children She was a companion of the guild of St George, this meant that she donated one tenth of her income to them. She was also a founder of Nottingham's Kyrle Society. She was very active in charitable support work during the First World War. [1] She was very involved in the National Council of Women of Great Britain who provided a platform for women who worked mostly in a voluntary capacity, their aim was the 'social, moral and religious elevation of their own sex'.
