Choose possible topics:

Option 1: Hinatazaka46

I chose this topic not only because they are my favorite Japanese idol groups but also that people from western countries don't know them that much, or J-pop female idol groups in general. The article itself is really short and has too little content (Level S). It also contains some incorrect/inaccurate information about this topic.

Option 2: Wagakki Band

Wagakki Band is one of the two Japanese rock bands that I extremely like. They combined Japanese traditional music with pop rock music so perfectly that they are becoming cultural shock for a lot of people. The article is level S as well and I still see some important information about the band missing in the article.

Based the starting date of two variety show above and the characteristics of them, the information in the HInatazaka 46 page is partially wrong. The first variety show of this group is Let's Meet at Hinatazaka (日向坂で会いましょう) since it is their regular variety show (this means this show will keep going once per week until the group is disbanded) and it started earlier than Hinabingo. Hinabingo is seasonal variety show and there's usually a blank time period between each season from one week to a couple of months, which means it is not continuous. The information of variety shows is nearly completely missing on the page of Hinatazaka 46, as it is one of their most important ways to attract fans.

Hinatazaka46 (Japanese: 日向坂46) is a Japanese idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto.

The group was created on November 29, 2015 as Hiragana Keyakizaka46, an affiliated act of Keyakizaka46 and part of the Sakamichi Series along with their sister group Nogizaka46. On February 11, 2019, Hiragana Keyakizaka46 announced that they were forming an independent group named Hinatazaka46, named after Hyūgazaka street in Minato-ku, Tokyo, which uses the same kanji. The new group debuted with a single titled "Kyun" on March 27, 2019.

The captain of the group is Kumi Sasaki. The group has appeared in multiple variety shows, including Keyakitte Kakenai?, Keyabingo!, Hiragana Oshi as Hiragana Keyakizaka46 and Hinabingo!, Hinatazaka de Aimashō as Hinatazaka46.

History[edit]

2015-2016: The Formation of Hiragana Keyakizaka46[edit]

On November 29, 2015, the formation of an affiliated group (also known as under group) of Keyakizaka46 was announced in their exclusive TV variety show Keyakitte, Kakenai? named Hiragana Keyakizaka46, along with a new member Neru Nagahama joining the group.[3] As a special case, it was decided that Neru Nagahama is going to be with Keyakizaka46 as a member of the affiliated group since she did not participate in the final audition of Keyakizaka46. The recruitment of more Hiragana Keyakizaka46 members was also announced at the same time.[4][5] In order to differentiate the main and the under group, Keyakizaka46 (欅坂46) was called Kanji Keyakizaka46 and Hiragana Keyakizaka46 (けやき坂46) was called Hiraganakeyaki due to that one group name was written in Kanji and the other one was written in Hiragana.[6]

Yet due to the medical treatment of Kanji Keyakizaka46's center member Yurina Hirate, Seed & Flower announced that the concerts of Kanji Keyakizaka46 were completely canceled.[15][16] Instead, Hiragana Keyakizaka46 was the substitute and the event became a 3-day live concert of Hiragana Keyakizaka46. It was also announced at the concert that Hiragana Keyakizaka46 is going to release a solo album.[14] On April 9, the exclusive variety show of the group named Hiragana Oshi started broadcasting.[17] They had another variety show named KEYABINGO!4 Hiraganakeyakitte Nani? started on April 17.[17] They began their first show on Stage AYUMI on April 20 – May 6.[18] On June 3, during the live streaming showroom of the group's live tour (『けやき坂46 走り出す瞬間ツアー2018 開幕直前緊急特番!』), Kumi Sasaki was announced to be the captain of Hiragana Keyakizaka46.[19] On June 20, Their debut album Hashiridasu Shunkan was published.[20] During the summer, the three Sakamichi groups, Nogizaka46, Keyakizaka46 and Hiragana Keyakizaka46 announced together of the beginning of their collaborative audition.[21] On November 29, distribution of the 39 girls who successfully passed the final audition was announced.
