The demonic mother who can’t stand her son's adorableness (息子がかわいくて仕方がない魔族の母親, Musuko ga kawaikutesyouganai mazoku no hahaoya) is Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Jugoya. It has been serialized in Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump magazine since May 25, 2016. The series was originally published on Twitter, and the first tankōbon volume was released on February 17, 2017. After that, it was reprinted and became a popular manga. After two months of broadcasting with Niconico, the manga placed 7th in sales rankings.
Plot
[edit]The story is about Laurem, a woman who was born as an endangered demon. She raises her son Gospel while being helped by her sister Mary and her friend Chiharu.
Characters
[edit]Laurem
[edit]The main character of this manga is a woman with long white hair and a tail, red horns, and wings on her waist. She is a demon with the special ability to manipulate heat.
Gospel
[edit]The main character’s son is a demon baby who has a tail and dragon wings. He has the ability to manipulate heat just like his mother but cannot control it fully yet.
Mary
[edit]The protagonist’s sister also has long black hair and a tail, red horns, and wings on her waist and wears glasses. She has the special ability to manipulate her tentacles to make universal cells. She always lets her tentacles mimic everyday clothes. She has a tendency to attach nicknames to her close friends. She sometimes uses funny word endings in her conversations. She is very gentle and tolerant and she rarely gets angry.
Chiharu
[edit]She is one of the main character’s friends. She is a 19 year old girl who makes a living by working part time. The main character’s son was born at her house. She is called “chi-chan” by Mary. She cares about Laurem and her family and these feelings were further intensified during the episode of the demon disease.
Fuga
[edit]He is a fish-type demonic boy who has the special ability to manipulate ice. Hi is called “Fuga-kun” by Mary. When he was young, he failed to control his special ability and he was dying. He was then helped by Laurem, so he wants to pay her back. He often visits her. Since he had made a living by catching fish by himself until the reunion with Laurem, he is not very familiar with the rules of the human world. He is taught how to survive in the human world and so on by Mary.
Teresa
[edit]She is a pretty girl who works in "Alice Shop" where they sell daily necessities for demons. She is an 18 year old demon with blue skin whose right eye is hidden by her white hair. She is very polite and often called "well-brought up" by Mary. She modestly corrects her each time by asking to be called "Terre-san" by Mary.
Alice
[edit]She is the manager of "Alice Shop" and always wears an eye mask. She is a demon who has horns extending in the front direction and long pink hair. She replaces tools originally used by humans into demonic products and sells them. She is good at business and very strict with money matters. She can explore the surroundings and destroy things using ultrasonic waves.
Minami
[edit]She is a woman working at the Demon Management Bureau of demons. She is aiming for symbiosis with human beings and demons. In order to help Laurem raise her son, she recommends that she live in a special protected observation area.
Garon
[edit]He is a demonic man who looks like an old man. In order to protect people like Minami who believes that human beings and demons can coexist sincerely, he also works at the Demon Management Bureau of demon.
Veronica
[edit]She is a demonic woman who works in a hospital in a special probation observation area as a nurse. She has four arms and wears glasses. She has the special ability to manipulate what she touches, but she is not good at operating things with a large population.
Lisette
[edit]She is a demonic girl who lives in a room next to Laurem. Small wings are growing from her head. She is weak under sunlight, so she can’t go out unless it is dark. Her staple food is human type B blood. She is sensitive enough to make herself cry just by accidentally raising Gospel and making him cry.
Sarah
[edit]She is a fish-type demonic girl. Until she met Fuga, she had lived in a cave using her special ability to manipulate electricity. Fins like hair grows on her head. She likes Fuga enough to imagine herself building a family with Fuga while holding Gospel.
Special Expressions
[edit]Demons
[edit]They look like human beings, but many of them have horns and feathers. Every demon’s teeth are sharp like a human canine tooth. Because there were times when they were hostile to humans, the number has also decreased considerably, but now most of the demons coexist with humans.
Demon Disease
[edit]This disease is caused by mutated virus in the body of a demon. The blood vessels of the living things that catch this disease stand out. Although the only symptom looks like a cold for the demon, the human body can’t tolerate the aggressiveness of this virus. When infected, the body goes through necrosis. In the worst case, it will lead to death. Chiharu has been infected with the virus caused by nursing Laurem when she caught it and she almost died. Recently, the research has progressed and drugs for preventing it have been developed.
Special Protected Observation Area
[edit]The area where the "demons for special protection observation" which is a demonic group declared as a management target by the Demon Management Bureau.
