Hi, I am Joost and a Reader in Gene Regulation and Expression in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee and Programme Lead for the MSc Biomedical and Molecular Sciences.

Expertise

My expertise is in gene expression, and higher education in relation to Molecular Biology. I have been a researcher/Principal Investigator in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee for many years, with a particular interest in the process of ribosomal RNA synthesis and ribosome biogenesis, integral to cell growth and cell proliferation.

Education

I got my University degree in the Netherlands, where I also gained my PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam. I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California in Berkeley. I have been at the University of Dundee since 1996.
