વાસાંસિ જીર્ણાનિ - આ કથા છે કલકતામાં રહેતી એક ગૃહિણી પોલોમા ટ્ટોપાધ્યાયની જે એક અકલ્પ્ય અનુભવમાંથી પસાર થાય છે અને ચાર જુદા-જુદા જીવનની અનુભૂતિ કરે છે.પણ વાસ્તવમાં આ ફક્ત પોલોમાની કથા નથી. આ એ દરેક વ્યક્તિની વાત છે જેણે “હું કોઈ બીજા સમય કે સ્થળમાં જીવી શકું તો?” એવું વિચાર્યું છે. વાસાંસિ જીર્ણાનિ એક અલૌકિક અજ્ઞાત યાત્રાની ગાથા છે.
અશેષ - અશેષનું વિષયવસ્તુ જેટલું સંકુલ છે એટલી જ પ્રયોગાત્મક એની લખાણશૈલી છે. એક યુવાન છોકરી ઇપ્સા એક તદન અજાણ વ્યક્તિ સાથે થયેલી વાતચીતને આત્મિક સંબંધ સમજી બેસે છે. આજના વર્ચ્યુઅલ વિશ્વમાં સાવ સાહજિક ગણાતા ફલર્ટીન્ગને પ્રેમ માની બેસે છે. એકરીતે પુસ્તકનું વિષયવસ્તુ પ્રેમ છે અને બીજીરીતે જોવા જઈએ તો ભ્રમણા છે.
સમાંતર - સમાંતર મૂળ પ્રેમ અને મિત્રતાની ગાથા છે, પણ એનો સમયગાળો આઝાદી પહેલાનો અને પછીનો છે. આથી જ અનાહિતાકુંવર , રઘુનાથ બર્વે અને ઈમાદ સૈયદની આ કથા ફક્ત એમની નથી, આ દેશની પણ છે.ભારતના મહાનાયકોના વૈચારિક સંઘર્ષ , આઝાદીની સવાર, રજવાડાઓનો અંત, ભારત-પાકિસ્તાનનાં ભાગલા અને પ્રજાઓના માનસિક વિભાજનની આ કથા છે. વીસમી સદીના પરોઢથી એકવીસમી સદીના સૂર્યોદયનો સમય અહીં વણી લેવાયો છે.
અસ્મિતા - આ નવલકથા એક સ્ત્રીની આત્મશોધની કથા છે. સુમા એક મધ્યમવર્ગીય , નોકરીયાત ગૃહિણી છે. એનો સ્વભાવ એટલો રુક્ષ છે કે એની આસપાસના લોકો એની કડવાશ અને કચકચથી થાકી ગયા છે. એક રાત્રે સુમા પોતાની બેગ લઈને એકપણ શબ્દની આપલે વિના ચાલી જાય છે. ‘અસ્મિતા’ એ મૌન વિદાય પછીની કથા છે…. જનારના પરિચયની યાત્રા છે. ભારતની દરેક મધ્યમવર્ગીય ગૃહલક્ષ્મી આ લઘુનવલની નાયિકા છે.
કેસબુક ઓફ મિ. રાય - મિ. રાય ‘ઇન્વેસ્ટીગેટીવ બ્યુરો’નો એક બાહોશ અધિકારી છે. હાઈપ્રોફાઈલ મર્ડર કે ગંભીર અપરાધની ગુથ્થી સુલઝાવવા જેમના પર વિશ્વાસ મુકાય છે એવા મિ.રાય એક અનકન્વેન્શનલ નાયક છે. આ પુસ્તક એમના બે કેસીસને સમાવિષ્ટ કરે છે. – ડેથ ઓફ સત્યવતી મહેતા – હાઉસબોટ – નં- ૩
પર્સેપ્શન - પર્સેપ્શન એ છવ્વીસ ટૂંકી વાર્તાઓનો સંગ્રહ છે. ભાતીગળ જીવનપટમાંથી ઉપસી આવેલી કેટલીક નાની-નાની ઘટનાઓ અને માનવમનની ભૂલભુલામણીની આ કથાઓ છે. યુવાનીમાં ભૂલાયેલા પ્રેમની , મોતના કુવામાં ગાડી ચલાવતા શ્રમિકની, ફાંસીની સજા પહેલા અંતિમ ઈચ્છા કહેતા કેદીની તો ક્યારેક છૂટાછેડા લેવા જીદે ચડેલી સ્ત્રીની વાત અહીં વણી લેવાઈ છે. આ પુસ્તક દેવાંગી ભટ્ટનો પ્રથમ વાર્તાસંગ્રહ છે.

Career

Devangi Bhatt worked with the Gujarat University as a professor of economics for twenty years. But the Rangbhoomi has always been the writer’s, first love.

Her name is associated with several successful theatre productions. Be it ‘Samay Sakshi Chhe’ which has been awarded by the Sangeet Natya Academi, or ‘Chitralekha’ which bagged awards in almost all the categories of the Bhavans theatre competition. Her last project was ‘Ekla Chaalo Re’, which was based on the literary debate between Rabindranath Tagore and Kaajal Oza Vaidya.

After penning several theatre scripts, Devangi’s first short-story collection ‘Perception’ came in 2013 which was published by the Navbharat Sahitya Mandir . Since then her six novels are published by the same publication house.

Devangi wrote a column for the magazine ‘Maari Saheli’. The column was called ‘Bideshini’, and it explored the experiences of Indian women who had settled across the globe. Readers cherished these write-ups.

Devangi Bhatt, a writer proficient in fiction,is also known for her fearless commentary on social and political issues through her articles. Her unflinching statements spark assent as well as dissent. But those disagreeing also note the strong perspective she puts forth.

Besides her serious work, she is also appreciated for her light-hearted, colloquial poetry.
