Southern Hills Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church located in south Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The church was created in 1964. The church has had five pastors during it's over 4 decades. It is currently pastored by Dr. Douglas O. Melton.The church has had many slogans over the years but the current one, adopted during Pastor Doug's time at SHBC, is "Developing Fully Devoted Followers of Christ." [1]

The campus consists of three main buildings. The original building, the north most building holds the original "Red Auditorium" and the gymnasium along with many classrooms. Construction on a new Youth and Administration Building was completed in March of 2007. Most of the church buildings have been built by Wynn Construction.[2]

SHBC is home to nearly 1400 every Sunday morning with an average Sunday School attendance over the last year of more than 1200.

The church has hosted many big name events, recently including "The Silver Ring Thing" [3] and "The Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma." [4] It has also been used as a 2007 Oklahoma County Ellection Board Polling Place. [5]

Southern Hills has had five pastors over it's lifetime. The latest, Dr. Douglas Owen Melton, has recently been featured in the Baptist Messanger [6] speaking about the 2007 Pastor's Conference, of which he is president. Southern Hills, along with being a partner of the Pastor's Conference, is also a member of the Capitol Baptist Association. [7]

The church has a Senior Adult Ministry, a Medium Aged Adult Ministry, a 40+ Single Adult Ministry[8], a 20's and 30's Single Adult Ministry[9], a college ministry[10], a youth ministry[11], and a children's ministry.
