This is a wikitable of the nuclides

The vertical axis is the number of protons.
The horizontal axis can be either the number of neutrons or the number of neutrons minus the number of protons.
The colors of the cells represent the stability of the nuclides.

This templates main purpose is to show the patterns that are formed
when plotting the stability of the nuclides
To that end it is possible to only show even or odd nuclides
(or even every fouth nuclide)

For general help on using templates see Help:Template#Template_usage
Please report any errors on the Talk page
Questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome.

Parameters

[edit]

Parameter 'horizontal' determines what the horizontal axis represents

When set to 'neutrons' the horizontal axis is the number of neutrons
When undefined the horizontal axis is the number of neutrons minus the number of protons.

Parameters 1-8 (only 1, 2 & 3 are working as yet) determine the color (and contents) of cells corresponding to nuclides with given half-lifes.

1 is stable.
7 is least stable.
8 is unknown

Parameters A-D take on values yes or no.

If A is yes then every 4th row beginning with row 1 is displayed.
If B is yes then every 4th row beginning with row 2 is displayed.
If C is yes then every 4th row beginning with row 3 is displayed.
If D is yes then every 4th row beginning with row 4 is displayed. (Actually beginning with row 0)

Parameters W-Z take on values yes or no.

If W is yes then every 4th column beginning with row 1 is displayed.
If X is yes then every 4th column beginning with row 2 is displayed.
If Y is yes then every 4th column beginning with row 3 is displayed (Actually beginning with row -1).
If Z is yes then every 4th column beginning with row 4 is displayed. (Actually beginning with row 0)

Parameter 'align' determines whether the whole table is aligned right, center, or left.

The default value is 'left'.

The parameter 'caption' is optional and determines the tables caption.

Parameter 'showlines' determines whether nuclear magic numbers are highlighted.

The possible values are 'yes' or 'no'.
The default value is 'no'.

Parameter 'linecolor' determines the color of the magic numbers

The default color is green

Parameter 'alphacolor' determines the color of the border of nuclides that emit alpha particles

The default color is red

Parameter 'showlegend' determines whether the legend explaining the colors is shown below the table

The default value is yes.

{{!}} is simply a "|" character. See Template:!
  is simply a space
