"Shal se Quetta" is History Book of Quetta City.

Shāl Se Quettā (شال سے کوئیٹہ)

       The Book Shāl se Quetta written by Arbab Muhammad Usman Kasi. The Book focus on pre-historic  period of old Shāl (شال ) up to modern Quetta, the capital of Province of Balochistan.
       It gives the detail account of the period ranging from the Aryan’s great migration towards Indus valley through famous Bolan Pass. It also goes to tell the story of the earliest empires of Persia, Graeco Bactrian , Timirids , Mughal and  Afghans who rules the Shāl. British  Came to dominate  not only Shāl valley (وادئ شال)      but whole of Balochistan as well. 
       It is extensively researched, gives detail of how a small town of mud houses which was visited by Captain Wylie in 1875 before British occupation and wrote about Shālkot (شال کوٹ) that it is a small , and built nearly in a square around a mud  on which is a mud fortification with a mud wall around it.

The town of Shāl kot (شال کوٹ) was occupied by Britishers in 1839 to enable them to proceed to Afghanistan to control the Russian’s invasion. Therefore, Quetta during British rules was known as “The Largest Garrison Town in India.” The Book also narrate background of technical ,social and economic changes due to which Quetta was known one of the of the beautiful and cleanest city in British India, which was also called as little London. It gives a better understanding of the city’s past. Almost every things one wants to know about Quetta is there in 616 pages with 26 Chapters. Book is for those who love to know more about Quetta.
