Onyaanya is an erectoral constituency in oshikoto region, it is at the center of the region. It has about more than ten thousand inhabitat, and people mainly depend on agriculture and farming. High unemloyed is one of the problem facing people in that village. Development of schools and health facility are at the slow pace. There are only one secondary and 5 primarly school.Many people are still travelling long distance to leach hospitals and clinics and in a long run many inhabitat lost their lives because of long distance to get medical treatment. Under the readership of Mr. Henock Nkaoshi, he managed to get water and electricity closer to the people.
Okalumbwena village is a village found at Oshikoto region in Onyaanya constituency. The rainfall range from 350-400mm per year. The village has got approximately 80 residents and falls under the readership of Mr. Henock Kankoshi a new councilor, after his predecessor Mr. Vilho Kamanya, the first governor of Oshikoto region. Okalumbwena had a significant history of the liberation struggle of Namibia of which many people were brutally killed, burned to death, hanged, abused, and tortured and some lost their livestock and house were burned down. People living near by the camp were forced to join the army of South Africa and that led many of them into exile. During that time the war was so intensive and people were prohibited to walk at night. After independence the Republic of Namibia decided to turn Okalumbwena into a green scheme project through the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry. Various projects were introduced to reduce poverty and the residents of Okalumbwena were given different training as most of them are subsistence farms depending on farming only.
Some got knowledge and skills through training since most of them are illiterate and need ideas for them to reduce poverty. A number of projects have been established and residents are running projects themselves. Construction and building of road, schools, clinics, health facilities, and churches are already functioning and some projects are still in pipe line to develop the village as well as water and electricity.
