- I've been thinking it would be better if the short footnote was of the form "PLANTS Database (year)", which is clearer than NRCS (year).
- So use
{{Sfn|PLANTS Database|2024}}for the short footnote.[1] - Then remove the authors from the {{PLANTS}} citation and set the citeref link with either
|ref=or{{SfnRef|PLANTS Database|2024}}|ref=CITEREFPLANTS Database2024 - The output of the template would appear like this with the title first: "Oenothera arizonica". PLANTS Database. USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Retrieved 4 November 2024.
