This user has created a global account. Joy's main account is on Wikipedia (in English).

I wasn't using a completely unified global account ([1] [2]) for a long time because I didn't unify it back when that became an option, and later I didn't unify it because of numerous conflicting accounts on various wiki instances.

What forced my hand was the realization that apparently for every Wikimedia per-language wiki where local admins decide to randomly scoop my edits, they get assigned to the local Joy account, which may or may not have actually been me. The prime example for this was de:User:Joy (more about that later).

Unfortunately, when I asked the stewards in June and July 2010, I got nowhere because global admins don't want to do anything the local admins can do, and people didn't seem to care for my somewhat complicated case :/

Since I couldn't cut any corners whatsoever, I had to make progress manually, going through the list and manually filing for usurpation:

• de:User:Joy:
  • I asked about it here. Unfortunately the German Wikipedia policy is stricter than most if not all others, as User:APPER explained. I've gone ahead and asked that user to relinquish the username.
  • I tried to appeal this: I brought it up on Talk there.
  • Later User:Raymond also responded that they will do something about this.
  • I asked at meta:Meta:Babel/Archives/2012-01#Importing edits and then refusing to attribute them properly, and again nothing happened.
  • I asked about it again, and this time User:FritzG and User:YourEyesOnly agreed to finally fix it. Cheers!
• A single Bangladeshi bot (bn:User:Joy) looked like a realistic obstacle, thankfully User:Jayantanth and User:Ragib renamed it away. ([3] [4])
• An old Dutch account (nl:User:Joy) was in the way, I asked about it and User:Taketa renamed it away. ([5])
