DiRoots was founded in 2017 by José Oliveira, a professional with a strong background in the AEC industry. The company was initially established in the United Kingdom, with its headquarters in Central London. The inception of DiRoots was driven by its founder's vision to innovate within the AEC industry, a vision that emerged after his own career transition in 2008 from a financial trading role to a Revit MEP Coordinator following the global financial crisis of 2007-2008.

In April 2018, DiRoots launched its first Autodesk Revit plugin, SheetLink, which quickly gained traction among Revit users for its ability to streamline workflows and enhance productivity. SheetLink’s success laid the foundation for DiRoots' reputation in the AEC software industry. Eventually, SheetLink was integrated into DiRootsOne, a comprehensive suite of tools that has become essential for AEC professionals.

The company's momentum continued with the release of its second Revit plugin in November 2019. This plugin, praised for its innovative features and superior user experience, quickly became one of the most popular tools available for Autodesk Revit, setting a new standard in the market.

In 2021, DiRoots launched its third Revit plugin, DiStem, further expanding its portfolio of tools designed to improve efficiency and productivity in the AEC industry.
