St. Thomas Becket stained Glass window at Chartres Cathedral

The St. Thomas Becket window was made and installed in the early 1200's, and was donated by the tanners guild.

The window itself is located in the south Apsidal chapel, along with the windows for St. Margaret and St. Catherine, St. Nicholas, and St. Remy.

The story of St. Thomas Becket is shown from the bottom to the top of the window.

Brief synopsis of Thomas Becket's life: Thomas Becket was a close friend of King Henry II from their youth. After the Archbishop of Canterbury Died, Henry II had Thomas ordained and appointed as the Archbishop of Canterbury. Thomas became a religious man, and began to disagree with his old friend. The tension between the two ultimately resulted in the excommunication of Henry II. After a casual remark made by the King about how troublesome Thomas had become, some knights loyal to the King went to the cathedral of Canterbury and murdered Thomas Becket as he was saying Mass.
