A doctor technicarum or doctor technicae (Dr. techn.) ist an Austrian doctorate degree which can be compared to the Doctor of Technology, Doctor of Science or a PhD. It was first introduced on April 13, 1901 by the Ministry of Culture and Education.[1]

The first person who was awarded with this degree was Hans Löschner, an engineer who studied at the Technical College of Graz (nowadays Graz University of Technology).[2]
