Division III Football
[edit]Division III Football was started in 1973 [1] and it is the lowest level of football that can be played in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Division III football programs cannot give any athletic scholarships. As a result, athletes are driven by their love of the game instead of being motivated by money and other outside influences. It is a common belief that football at this level is not as competitive as the higher divisions. However, it is still a very competitive level of football.[2] There is a playoff system for a National Championship, the Stagg Bowl, which has been held in Salem, Virginia since 1993. For a complete list of Division III football programs and conferences see List of NCAA Division III football programs.
