A hyphenated American, but I find the use of "American" offensive when used exclusively for those living in the US of A. America is a Continent... some argue that it's two ... something that hasn't been completely convincingly argued, but ... even the term North American would refer to a whole lot more people than it's usually being used for.

I speak Spanish, my Parents were Cuban, before they became citizens of these United States, so I consider myself "hispanic" ... that means, I don't want you to call me Latin, or Latino ... unless you are a gorgeous red head with a real thick husky lusty voice calling me a "Latin Lover" [that would be only to inflate my ego because I'd have to soundly reject any offers ... I love my wife and I don't like the thought of losing my baby :) ] ... With the Sole exclusion of my brother in his high school years, NO ONE in my family going back at least 5 generations spoke latin. They weren't educated enough. Beyond the 5th generation, they spoke Italian, not Latin, as officials in the Neapolitan Duchy. Maybe my German Great Grandmother had people in her family that spoke latin, but I don't think that would be enough to go calling me "latin" or "latino". I really detest the term.
