Project Crystallis ...
Project Crystallis [1] is a fan based movement started on the GameFAQS.com boards. The fans of both Final Fantasy Versus XIII [2] and Final Fantasy Type-0 [3] formed this movement to both advocate the American localization of Final Fantasy Type-0 and also influence the frequency of information on Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Much like Operation Rainfall [4] was instrumental in the North American localization of Xenoblade Chronicles [5] and The Last Story [6] , the fans of Final Fantasy Type-0 are hoping to persuade Square Enix [7] to localize the PSP exclusive. There were rumors of its localization early in development, but any confirmation faded away after its release. There has been no information from Square Enix concerning its localization as hope for a North American release grows slimmer with each passing month. Because of the current release of the Playstation Vita, the PSP is already living on borrowed time.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced at E3 [8] 2006, but has received little information and even less gameplay footage. Every year, fans anxiously anticipated more information on the highly desired Final Fantasy with every gaming convention, and every year faced disappointment at each. Very rarely is any news released, and the updates that are revealed are most often general such as lighting, not concerning gameplay schematics or screenplay. The Japanese game magazine Famitsu [9] allegedly has been receiving photos of the game, but has been restricted from showing them. This, however, has not been confirmed. Even though the game was announced in 2006, actual true development did not start until roughly 2009. While this offers some explanation for the extended growth of Versus XIII, it does not explain the lack of communication between Square Enix and its fans.
Project Crystallis was created in hopes of establishing a line of communication with Square Enix. Project Crystallis has stated they are not rushing a release date, but are demanding information [10]. The group has been attracting quite a bit of attention and has been mentioned on several gaming websites such as
