Jean-Michael Harris (born November 16, 1993) is a South African software engineer and web developer. In 2013, he moved up to New Zealand for a change of life but soon there after moved back down to Cape Town to carry on living with family. Not long after he made the big decision to join his father and mother in the permanent relocation to the United States. Due to his fathers prior work in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Harris family thought of this being a great oportunity. Once finishing his freshman year in Central Piedmont Community College of Charlotte, he made the switch to University of North Carolina Charlotte, till today, he is currently now finishing his final year of university.
Early life
[edit]Jean-Michael Harris was born in 1993 in Johannesburg, Gauteng. In the year 2000, his family decided to make the move to Cape Town, Western Cape. He attended Panorama Primary school before making the move to Fairbairn College in 2008. He graduated from high school in 2012. This is where he had to decide on a career path to take, he started following behind his fathers foot steps in becoming a young hearted programmer.
Once finally noticing where his talents lay, he made the move to New Zealand in early 2013. This is where he decided to follow his dreams and start his studies. Not long after in that year, due to unemployment issues, he moved back to Cape Town to live with his father and mother. In 2014, the Harris family made the mutual decision to move the the United States, Charlotte, North Carolina soon became their new home. Currently Jeff Harris, the father, is working in database design where Jean-Michael chose the software engineering side of computer science.
Here till today, he is persistently following his goal in graduating in a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Engineering and a minor in Outdoor Leadership. His expected graduation date is in December 2017.
Current career
[edit]Early ventures
[edit]Prior to Jean's big American move, he spent most of his year in 2013 at Vee's Videos as a front desk clergy. After arriving at Charlotte in 2014, Jean started working as score keeper host for the Pineville Ice House when ever they would have their ice hockey games, along with working part time as their front desk assistant, at the end of the year, he resigned. In the start of 2015, he started to work for Trident Pools. While there, he worked for a year till the end of 2015 as a lifeguard. during that same year, Jean picked up a second job in May 2015, he started working for Compas, while working for this food catering company, he was contracted to mostly do work at the Duke Mansion as a barback and server. Due to his loyalty to the mansion and hard dedicating hours, he landed another job working as a receptionist and housekeeping supervisor for the same location, the Duke Mansion. After being rewarded this job, he resigned from Trident Pools to focus his efforts for working for the Duke Mansion and working toward that degree. After finishing his Web Applications course, his professor offered him a position to come work for her as a Teaching Assistant in 2016 due to his wide knowledge in the course. Up till date, he still currently works all 3 jobs and is working hard to finishing up his degree, hoping, one day that he can present his talents in the modern uprising computer industry of today.
Current experiences
[edit]While at University of North Carolina Charlotte, he learnt to become skilled in many programming languages, that of which consisted; C, C#, C++, Java, Python, R, SQL, PHP, XML, HTML, JavaScript.
Jean-Michael Harris is notoriously known for his programming skills and unending focus when it comes to working on a project. He has focused his efforts in homing his C++ and java skill mostly, where as all other fields, he has had enough experience to single handedly complete many small end projects.
