Upon its launch in 2020, the platform was the first fully Australian-built Demand-Side-Platform (DSP) for the out-of-home industry[3]. Its core product offering is a self-service outdoor advertising web application targeted at small businesses. The platform operates as an open marketplace where buyers can purchase outdoor advertising media from multiple publishers. The platform is currently free to use, whereby advertisers pay a commission on ads served instead of a fixed fee for platform access.
History
[edit]Founding
[edit]CAASie.co was founded in 2019 by genetic scientist Taryn Syratt, along with Jeff Jaraved and Joe Jaraved.[4] The platform itself was released to the public in January 2020. According to Syratt, the name stems from an acronym for 'Contextually Aware Advertising System'. The launch announcement portrayed the platform as a derivative of Google Adwords or Facebook Ads for the outdoor advertising market[3].
In February 2020, it was announced that CAASie.co had partnered with Broadsign, another technology company operating in the outdoor advertising space. This partnership allowed the users of CAASie.co to serve ads to screens within the Broadsign network via its Supply-Side-Platform (SSP), Broadsign Reach.
In April 2021, CAASie.co announced a partnership with Location Media Xchange (LMX) allowing the CAASie.co DSP to access the LMX SSP[5]. The agreement was said to enable users of CAASie.co to access screens within the Southeast-Asian region of the LMX network, however as of July 2021, the CAASie.co website does not show any screens in this region[6].
Markets
[edit]CAASie.co is headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, and operates predominantly within the Australian market. However, when interviewed by B&T, co-founder Jeff Jaraved suggested that the company may have interests in expanding into Southeast-Asia[7].
The company primarily markets its software to small businesses and digital marketing agencies.
