A Day in the Woods (2017) is an American, high-school made horror film. It follows the story of a boy who loses his parents in a fatal car accident in 2012 and leads into a trip him and his friends make to that location to make amends with his parents and have a weekend of fun.
It was directed, written, and edited by Thomas J. Smith, with the producer being Adrian "AJ" Juarez. Actors include: Crystal Powell, Sarah Rivera, Vianca Chaidez, Thomas J. Smith, and AJ Juarez, which are the confirmed actors, other actors have not been confirmed for the parts of Skylar and Steven. Those two parts have not been answered to the media.
Plot
[edit]In an unidentified beginning, in the woods, a character in POV is seen running through the middle of the woods from something, and a bright light emerges, two voices emerge before the bang, signifying it was a car crash. The running stops and two characters of adult age are seen as a ghosts with the grim reaper standing behind them.
The next day at school, a boy named Jessie is trying to find a "frienemy" to give him the news he read in an article. He is met by an overexcited Steven, who becomes worried as to how Jessie knows before Skylar. When Jessie gets to Skylar to tell him, Skylar doesn't believe it at first but then is called down to an office to wait for a patrol car to pick him up.
The next few scenes showed planning for an end of the year trip to the woodlands in which Skylar's parents had died.
When the six friends arrive in the woods, Steven becomes possessed by a relentless spirit who begins to kill off each of the friends one-by-one. With the help of an unsuspecting demonologist Devon, they try to track Steven down to exorcise him and to get rid of the evil that has taken control of many lives that have died in the woods.
When they track him down, he initially cuts loose. However, when they get him back again, they officially exorcise him to the point of his death, but it is revealed in the sequel that he did in fact survive.

Making
[edit]According to a video released on YouTube in November 2016, after the 2016 election, a lot of drama occurred and much of the cast was terminated or had willingly left the film. By December, another fight occurred and one of the cast had told the director, "you seem to be the only one passionate about this. You can't do a project without passion," this person left the film shortly after the remarks.
Due to the "backstage drama" filming was postponed for the third time since the final shooting script was ready in mid-2015. However, given the number of times it was postponed, the writer of the film decided to take the time to write an official second draft for further filming. As of April 2017, the new final shooting script is complete and a search for a new (updated) cast is still underway.
