What is the difference between a copyright violation and plagiarism?

This question is one that will stump a lot of people, but when you get down to the basics of it, it's pretty simple. To start, both of these concepts both involve someone stealing someone's ideas or misusing someone's work. While these two concepts have many similarities, the way they vary is the way you misuse their work. First, plagiarism is using someone else's work, but not citing it properly with consequences from school or institution. With copyright violation it's the same thing. Misusing someone's work without consent. But in this situation, the defendant can file lawsuits and get the money or credit they deserve from advertising their idea or work.
