Akoism Basics

[edit]

Akoism is pronounced Ahk-oh-ism. It is a religion based purely on simplicity. It seems to have many links to other religions, such as Christianity, although there are profound differences. It has no books, only followers. The followers are called Akoists.

Origin of Akoism

[edit]

The exact origins of Akoism is unknown. Akoists would have everyone believe that this religion has been here since the beginning of man. While the ideology may have been around for quite sometime, it seems the Akoism is actually a new age religion.

Akoists claim that you have not heard of this religion sooner due to it being passionately hidden from the world by leaders of other religions. This has not been confirmed, but many following the religion believe it to be true. It is said that the other religions feared Akoism because it drew strength from its simplicity and therefore grew in numbers, taking from the numbers of the other religions.

Akoism Beliefs

[edit]

Akoism, as stated above, is a religion relying on simplicity. Akoists believe that the truth of the religion is proven by the very simplicity it relies on. Akoism says that there must be balance in life. While there is good, and evil, we are somewhere in between. Although, some people lean more towards one or the other, the main idea of Akoism is to strive to stay in between. The leader of good is, as in Christianity, God. The leader of evil is still Satan. In order to truly follow the teachings of Akoism, one must equally obey both, and therefore gain the balance of good to evil. Another large component of Akoism is the belief that humans are not destined for anything in the afterlife. Heaven is reserved only for the purely good and Hell only for the truly evil. Humans can never reach these levels. Therefore, Heaven remains the home of God, and hell is the realm of Satan. Due to the belief that there is no afterlife, Akoists strive to make the best of the life they have. Again, in order to do this, they must find a balance in their life.

Akoism Controversey

[edit]

There is much controversey surrounding the Akoism religion. The most notable is the fact that Akoism invites the use of evil in order to be balanced. This usually brings up the question, Does this mean that crimes such as murder, rape, and others are acceptable in this religion? For the answer to this, Akoists turn back to their simple ideology: Humans must maintain a balance. An act such as murder would 'tip the scales' towards evil. One cannot hope to attain the balance when leaning towards such evil tendencies.

Akoism Concluded

[edit]

While Akoism is still a very mysterious religion, it is one that is gaining more followers. When asked why they are turning to religion, almost all respond that it is the simpleness of it all that catches their attention. So in conclusion, Akoism follows the beliefs that there can't be good with out evil and humans must find their place in the middle. God leads pure goodness, and Satan leads pure evilness. Akoists, the followers, believe that humans must obey both in order to lead a productive, full life, as there is no afterlife.
