Personal life Originally from Brooklyn, New York, has had a wide and varied career expanding from music producer, entertainment, and sports marketing for the nation’s top athletes, to selling commodities on Wall Street.Philanthropist, and Author. He currently resides in Atlanta,GA and has offices in several U.S. States.


Music Career His career began as an entertainer and developed as a songwriter and a record producer. He came to prominence as one of the original old school rappers, sharing the center stage, rhyming with [Doug E.Fresh], Biz Markie, Treacherous 3, Boogie Boys, Cipher Sounds, Disco Twins, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Kurtis Blow, and Run DMC. He was Nicknamed "Sweety G”Italic text by his fellow rappers (for being "too sweet to beat")


Meeting with Cipher Sounds 1978 Cipher Sounds would become the first Queens DJ set to battle against Bronx legend Grandmaster Flash at the Hotel Diplomat in Manhattan. Cipher Sounds continued to work with Russell and in 1978 met Glenn Toby, a young man who was also making a name for himself in the hip-hop game, going by the name; Sweety G. Glenn introduced Cipher Sounds to well known promoters Mike & Dave who also represented a hot group of Manhattan based rappers called The Crash Crew. Cipher Sounds began to work with Sweety G. and Mike & Dave, performing at the world famous Harlem World in Manhattan and the legendary Disco Fever in the Bronx. Toby is credited with revolutionizing urban music in the early 1980′s in New York City.

Glenn co-managed LL Cool J for three years,Toby helped secure the rapper a starring role on the popular NBC produced sitcom, In The House. That deal became the launching pad from which LL Cool J embarked upon his acting career.


Founded: Glenn's Grooves Productions. His company has a roster of corporate clients which include: Sony Music Corp., Motown Records, Home Box Office, Atlantic Records, and B.M.G. Music Publishing

Finance Glenn Toby worked for several years at EDS, a Wall Street Commodities Firm. This enabled Toby to provide his clients with financial services in Stocks & Bonds, Real Estate Development, Off Shore Banking, Investments and Securities.

Sports Toby merged with Sports Agent, Alonzo Shavers to create Infinite Sports Technology (IST)

Philanthropy

1998: Created The Book Bank, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to enable underprivileged youth to achieve personal goals, develop self-confidence and prepare themselves for productive roles by focusing on the importance of literacy. Along with Richard Britt, President, they provide our youth with tutoring, alternative education, counseling, and career development services. Founded in 1998, To date the foundation has serviced over 100,000 children nationwide.

Published Works 2003: Contributed a chapter in “The Souls of My Brothers; Black Men Break Their Silence, Tell Their Truths, and Heal Our Spirits” entitled “Prosperity Will Come”, a book edited by Dawn Marie Daniels and Candace Sandy. A collaboration of excerpts written by several distinct African American males, the book provides insight into the hardships and eventual epiphany of the men who surpassed all odds.

He is currently writing his autobiography.

Awards/Achievements 2006 "The Leadership Achievement Award" by The National Urban league 2007 Glenn Toby was named Harvard University Man of the Year.
