User:Jackyd101/U-boat articles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here are the pages I have created or expanded in my current project: Creating pages about U-boats. I am intending to slowly create a database of all boats which served an operational patrol, were sunk during the war years (by any cause) or were in any other way notable (i.e. post-war service in another navy). The pages are not as detailed as those on uboat.net, as befits an encyclopedia, but do contain a short operation history, a discussion of all controversial or famous incidents in which the boats were involved, and an array of the most important statistics using a convenient table I found.

A significant number of U-boats have no operational history, having never been deployed or completed. For these boats I am creating directories based on their Type, so basic details are known but otherwise-useless articles about them which will only ever be stubs are not made. I am then redirecting the page for that boat to the directory.

Those listed in bold are of particular interest.

Unforeseen circumstances have necessitated a wikibreak from this project. I will continue in the future, but if anyone else wishes to pick up where I have stopped, please do so.

Notes to Self

[edit]
  • U-754 is much too short and needs gratly extending
  • On all future boats and when you revisit current ones, always red-link the commanders in the info boxes, it will save time later.
  • Created new categories for U-boats sunk by location as shipwreck categories are becoming unwieldy.
  • Remove useless category U-boats sunk by British depth charges
