Overview

[edit]

The kami enshrined here are Idehanokami, and Ukanomitama.

Since time immemorial the shrine has attracted pilgrims as a place associated with mountain worship and Shugendō, and still draws visitors today.

Mount Gassan, Mount Haguro, and Mount Yudono, which together make up the Three Mountains of Dewa all have their own shrines (Gassan Jinja, Ideha Jinja, and Yudonosan Jinja respectively). These are registered as one religious organisation under the name of "Ideha Sanzan-jinja". The shrine contains a hall where the kami of these three mountains are enshrined together (Gōsaiden), as well as the headquarters of the religious organization.
