Dreamer's League Foundation - Premier League 2034-35 season

The Dreamer's League Foundation - Premier League 2034-35 season was the 4th season in its history and the 21st season of top-flight football in the DLF. The season started the 17th December 2034 and ended 29th October 2035, making it the longest season at 316 days, compared to the odd 300 days.

Season Breakdown

The defending champions Derby County failed to retain their title as Brighton & Hove Albion took their 1st ever trophy in its history on 89 points, with a 14 point gap to runners-up Tottenham Hotspurs and Derby County. Brighton broke the record for the least goals conceded in a season, 18. Newly-promoted sides Watford and Southend United avoided the drop narrowly in 15th and 17th place. Relegated sides were Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City. The League cup, or the Close-Fix League Cup for sponsorship reasons, was won by Aston Villa in a thrilling 5-3 victory over Crystal Palace, with champions and defending champions Brighton and Derby being knocked out in the group stages. 2034-35 League Cup featured a £100,000,000 prize pot. Winners Aston Villa received £70,000,000 for winning and runners-up Crystal Palace received £15,000,000 while the remaining £15,000,000 got shared out between the rest of the competition qualifiers. Newly-promoted Norwich City was expelled 6 games into the season after a 2 year-long investigation came to a close after chairmen Michael Clarkson and chief-executive Jake Haller-Janson admitted to breaching FFP rules, bribery, match fixing and exceeding capacity upgrade cap. This caused the DLF to take immediate action and temporarily expelled the club. 4 months later, they're decision was to permanently expel them from the league on 7 counts of breaking the DLF rules and terms of service and were fined £87,000,000 and waged capped to £15,000 per week for 10 years. This was the only season that included the 'Limited Wage' rule (all clubs given different wage-caps determined by budget and status e.g. newly promoted teams get a weak wage-cap, champions of the league gets a stronger wage cap), in which would be nicknamed to 'The controversial rule'. On 17th August, the record for the highest selling player in English history was broken by Chelsea, whose left-back Alan Clare brought £93,000,000 worth of money to Bayern Munich; only 2 days after would the highest buying player be brought in for £109,000,000, midfielder Noel Allsgaard to defending champions Derby County from LOSC Lille of France. A worldwide record was broke after Harley Trifle for Brighton assisted all 6 goals in a 6-2 victory over Sheffield United 2 games into the season on 23rd December 2024.

This would be the only season to have a combined capacity of over 400,000. Crystal Palace and Chelsea signed a 1-year stadium share agreement after Chelsea's stadium, Old Farmers Way, was deemed unsafe after a number of infrastructure repairs failed to fix the stadium interior. Loop Road Stadium was selected as the best fit for both clubs as it both rounded up to 3 miles apart. Crystal Palace rented out Loop Road after a series of events which led to them loosing their home stadium, Kenilworth Way, and had been playing in there ever since 2025. The lowest capacity stadium, Norwich City's Live-Well Scheme Stadium, was deemed the most in-condition stadium by the DLF on 16th December 2034.

League Table

Brighton & Hove Albion took the title 6 games early after beating Derby County 4-2 to give them their first ever trophy. They also broke 7 records: most games gone unbeaten, 29; most goals scored in a single season by a team, 91; least game conceded by a single team, 18; most consecutive victories in a season, 16; biggest goal difference by a team in a season, +73; the least money spent in a single season by a title winning team, £35,000,000; and the most points picked up in the second half of a single season, 62. Tottenham Hotspurs and Derby County contested a heated last match of the season to decide who would take 2nd place. A 1-0 victory for Tottenham Hotspurs would see them take runners-up. Half-way through the season, Chelsea would see themselves top of the table with 45 points. In the second-half of the season, only 9 points were collected, losing manager Glenn Johnson's job eventually on 2nd of September after falling to 8th

IMPORTANT - All games scheduled to play against Norwich City after getting expelled were cancelled and the opponent would receive a 3-0 victory. The draw 2-2 against Watford on the 4th matchday would stay as a draw to both teams.

Rivalries

Aston Villa vs Wolverhampton

This derby is the only derby both teams have in the Premier League in this season. The history of this rivalry is pretty weak, but nonetheless was an entertaining one this year. a sending-offs, and 14 goals combined. The meeting at Hollow Way finished 5-0 to the home side, Aston Villa. At the Clover Stadium, Aston Villa, despite having a red card, won 5-3.

Results

The first match featured a purely dominated performance from Aston Villa. A full stadium of delighted Aston Villa fans watched as only 6 minutes in, Aston Villa's top scorer Jose Pique converted from the spot after Wolves defender Alan Jerad took down Niko Flabbaski in the penalty area. 5 minutes later, Tino Porpar scored a potential goal of the season from a 27 yard free-kick. 39 minutes in Pique scored another goal, this time a curling effort from 20-21 yards out. In first-half stoppage, Aston Villa got another through Nathan Brakett's own goal from a corner. At half-time, 3,000 Wolves fans were seen leaving the stadium after being 4-0 down. Flabbaski scored from a cross in the box from Arthur Chester. To top it off, Pique completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute from the spot again after a handball by Nathan Brakett. A record 6-0 victory for Aston Villa against Wolves was recorded. Clover Stadium hosted the second match, in which every seat was filled. The first-half consisted of only one goal from Arthur Chester, after a corner was swung in and his header hit the back of the net. A thrilling second-half started off with a penalty for Wolves and a Aston Villa sending-off, as goalkeeper Brice Miles denied a goal scoring opportunity as Peter Clarkson was 1-on-1 with him and he grabbed onto his leg, in which 19-year-old Rowan Tinton was subbed on to replace the contender for goalkeeper of the year. The penalty was converted by Clarkson, a bottom-right finish. Only 6 minutes after, Wolves took the lead through winger Nigel Gladene through a mistake by Tinton. Within the next 10 minutes, Aston Villa scored 3 goals (2 Pique, 1 Hector Lymington) to put them 4-2 up with a man down. Wolves pulled 1 back in the 83rd minute through Clinton Lennox but Aston Villa scored a 5th in the 91st minute through Chester to finish the game off 5-3.

Jack Dowell took home the 2034-35 Golden Boot with 29 goals in 34 games, also earning the most goals-per-games decimal for a player above 20 goals for that season and the best penalty scored:taken ratio for top 5 scorers. 3-time Golden Boot winner Diego Jaburma presented the Golden Boot to the Tottenham striker, with Tottenham legend Adrian Ollann assisting him.

Golden Glove

The Golden Glove would be awarded to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets over 30 games. The decider would the goalkeeper with the lowest goal conceded per-game decimal. Carlos Rodriguez would be crowned the Golden Glove winner 8 matchdays prior to the end of the season, and given it by goalkeeping legend Howard Wagstaff during the End of Season Awards ceremony. A 11 clean sheet gap and an average 1 goal conceded every 2.14 games made Carlos Rodriguez also take a record; the least goals conceded in a single season, 16.

Playmaker Boot

The Playmaker Boot would be won by the highest assister across the season. Harley Trife took the award with 21 assists and a 0.61 assists-per-game decimal. Peter Markus and Dean Davis were 1 off sharing the award. The award would be given to the Brighton midfielder by DLF Safeguarding & Discrimination Lead, Gabriel Garner-Riley in the End of Season Awards.

Player of the Season would be voted by a record 765,831 people. Carlos Rodriguez was voted the winner with a whopping 74% votes. Runners-up Harley Trife only fetched 10% votes, earning the record for the oldest runners-up for the Player of the Season. Young Player of the Season would be voted by 209,384 people and the highest percentage of votes for a player would receive the award. It would voted for the highest-performing player under the age of 23. Alex Alston topped the votes at 35% and given the Young Player of the Season by voted Player of the Season Carlos Rodriguez. Goal of the Season

Goal of the Season was voted be almost 300,000 people. An opening day overhead kick from Jack Dowell against Southend United was the winning goal at 26% votes and presented by Alexander Tisch the former Young Player and Player of the Year. A free-kick from 32-yards out secured a 2nd place for the on loan Hank Tenton against an in form Derby County at a close 20%. Peter Markus finished a wonderful tiki-taka style football against Crystal Palace which hit 17%. Ti-Sung Zhao hit a wonder strike from 30-yards out and reached a peak of 145 km/h and placed 4th best goal of the season at 15%. Also at 15%, Aston Villa's Tino Porpar's brilliant cross ended up in the back of the net after Brighton & Hove keeper Carlos Rodriguez failed to tip it over the bar. A retiring Liam Nelson showed his experience after finishing off a lovely counter-attack, in which a fantastic ball by Tyler Wilson was volleyed first-time into the back of the net against a struggling Aston Villa. Last but not least, Tino Porpar again scored a wonder-goal, this time a inch-perfect free-kick from 24 yards out against relegation-threatened Wolves early on in the season.

Dean Davis joined him after getting the highest grown player in the midfield with +6, and becomes the only 90 rated European player in all of FIFA. Cale Fitzpatrick in second is the only Scottish player with over 90 interception and pace in its history, also earning a 88 rating. Aston Villa would take the highest combined ratings defence as Şadi Sanchez, despite loosing 3 ratings, remained the 3rd best defender in the league and the best full-back. Patrik Stenger and 20 year-old and Young Player of the Year winner Alex Alston finished the top 5 off.

Derby County finished a full team sweep in the top 5s as Sian Zaheer's 20 clean sheets the season before got him up to a 84 from a 82. Danny Moore, Pētr Aŵtin and Bryce Miles got 3rd, 4th and 5th; Danny Moore loosing his consecutive 1st place keeper. Frank Parker instead got top keeper with a +1 rating upgrade.

Champions Brighton & Hove gave a great season to Peter Markus at the age of 24, who tops the prospects for the midfield. Alexander Tanley-Riley got 2nd place with 86 potential at the age of 19 despite not starting a game for the first team.
