Studex, Inc. was founded in 1978. The company has about 1,000 employees in 25 subsidiaries and local offices worldwide. Its European headquarters Studex of Europe GmbH is located in Koblach, Austria.

Market Position

[edit]

Studex is the leading international manufacturer of ear piercing systems and sterile piercing studs.[1][2][3][4] Its competitors are, for example, Caflon, Inverness, Blomdahl, and Estelle.

Products/Brands

[edit]

Studex manufactures and distributes ear piercing systems, piercing earrings and regular (non-piercing) earrings as well as aftercare products, such as lotions.[5]

The System75 ear piercing system is Studex’s core product. It employs a single-use cartridge that contains a sterile piercing earring and a sterile earring clasp. The cartridge is inserted into the instrument before piercing and removed and disposed of afterward. During the piercing process, the ear is pierced with the piercing earring, and the clasp is automatically positioned on the earring post.[6][7] The regular (non-piercing) earrings are marketed under the Sensitive by Studex name[2].

Marketing

[edit]

The Studex logo shows a lady head with a sparkling earring. The company uses the marketing slogans "World's Largest Ear Piercing Manufacturer" and "The World's Leading Ear Piercing Brand".

Studex is a business-to-business (B2B) company. It sells its ear piercing systems and earrings to jewelers, pharmacies and drugstores, doctors, beauty salons, hairdressers, and piercing and tattoo studios.
