Vincent van Gogh's death occurred in the early morning of Tuesday, 29 July 1890, in his room at the Auberge Ravoux in the village of Auvers-sur-Oise in northern France. It was the result of a gunshot wound two days earlier when he shot himself in the chest not far from the inn.[1]
