The Pentri were a Samnite tribe.
History
[edit]The Pentri are one of the four tribes most mentioned by Roman writers as opponents of Rome during the Samnite Wars.[1] The Pentri lost territory after the wars, but were still allied to Rome.[2] The Pentri were one of the few Samnite tribes that did not defect to Hannibal during the second Punic War.[3]
