This space serves more as a collection of references for me. Long neglected, highly subjective, fervent local.

Wikipedia

[edit]

A few bookmarks from within Wikipedia. An interesting overview are the 10 things you did not know about Wikipedia or something to get started. Tabs would also be a nice way to sort content.

Categories

[edit]

The Category Tree browser, a javascript category browser at the Toolserver, might be deprecated, but is still useful and I'd like to keep it here before it's gone from the Categorisation FAQ. Similarly, Cat Scan, also at the Toolserver, can be used to find sub-categories.

Cleanup

[edit]

The many articles that require cleanup along with examples, the templates and inline cleanup/maintenance tags that help to clean up. One point of bother is often the unintentional lack of formal tone in articles.

Sources/Referencing

[edit]

Very important for quality encyclopedic articles is to know if the source is reliable and if information is verifiable. Information about referencing sources. List of available citation templates and citation styles.

Reference Desk

[edit]

The reference desk is a help section for Wikipedians.

Replace ‘World’ with whatever you want to look up.

Places to Start

[edit]

A good way to start: Clearing the backlog, creating an article from a translated page or look at why some pages are dormant. There are also many "special places" (not to be confused with #Special Pages).

Maps

[edit]

Maps, being a vital part of any good encyclopedia, can be created with tools and recommended standards as described in the Wikiproject Maps.

Map resources can be found on Wikimedia Commons.

World maps can be based on Wikimedia:Image:BlankMap-World.png.

Coordinates for maps follow the coord template.

Maps can support articles such as those below the lists of countries.

Special Pages

[edit]

"Special Pages" have no corresponding wikitext; they are created by software bots on demand.

Sort of Zeitgeist-y: Articles with most revisions.

Articles for deletion

[edit]

List of articles discussed if these stay or go and the database of delete debates. There is also a Deletion Log and a Deletion Review. The latter one lists current pages marked AfD (Articles for Deletion) and an archive. Direct access to particular pages via http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/World, where World would have to be replaced with the page title. (Is there are search functionality for articles under deletion review?)
