From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A platform scale is a common type of weighing scale where the object to be weighed is placed upon a flat surface, typically located on top of the device, and where the balancing arms and counterweights are located below, inside it. Examples of platform scales include those commonly used at supermarkets to way produce and meat, and scales to weigh vehicles at roadside weigh stations.
