BrightSide[1] is an indie rock, post-punk revival band formed in 2009 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The band ensemble consists of: Konstantinos Skarlatos (lead vocals, guitar), Nestoras Bananis (lead guitar), Miles Lappas (drums and percussion) and Thanos Karapantsios (bass guitar).
History
[edit]The band is influenced by the new wave, post-punk scene alongside its revival through the indie rock bands of the '00s. Bringing relief to their perennial craving for something genuinely independent, the band started rehearsing in fall 2009.
Since the spring of 2010, BrightSide. have performed live as opening acts for Cyanna[3][4] (February 2011), Get Well Soon (band)[5][6] (April 2012) and Motorama (band)[7][8] (October 2013). They have also performed with other alternative bands at various live stages and they have participated in festivals (Cross My Art #3 Festival, kont@kt#4 – the 4_bidden fest, #if (Indie Fest), 3rd Desperados Summer Festival, 1st Kryoneri Camp Festival, 3rd Stars Of A Happy Family Fest).
In January 2012, BrightSide. released their first demo entitled “Puzzle”, which included two tracks: Puzzle and Nude Celebrity.
During the same period, the band's long-standing idea of creating a festival for indie bands of Thessaloniki took shape. This resulted in the creation of #if (Indie Fest) which was held with complete success at GaiAlive.
In November 2012 BrightSide. self-released their first EP, entitled “EP”[9][10][11][12], limited to 150 copies, having Aaron Cornelius Jackson III[13] as a producer.
In September 2013 BrightSide. self-released their first video clip for the opening track of the “EP”, entitled “Get Down”[14][15].
Currently, BrightSide. are working on new material.
On January 2012, BrightSide came up with the idea of creating a festival for indie bands of Thessaloniki. This idea gave birth to #if (Indie Fest) which was held with complete success at GaiAlive.
