Indian Corporates - Relevant and Essential Information on some of India's respected corporate houses

[edit]

India is going through a radical transformation in its economy, from the restrictive license raj to a liberalised, globalised economy. Almost mirroring the state of the Indian economy are the Indian corporate houses - starting from a legacy beginning, driving ahead in full steam, gaining lethargy during relative monopolistic times, to shedding off some fat and reshaping itself for times ahead.

Some of these corporate houses are household Indian names - the Tata group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Birla, Hinduja, Godrej. However, it has never been easy in recent times owing much to multinational companies, consumer shifts in loyalty and mindsets. Indeed, they've had to play hard to catch up in the race of consumerism, and competition.

I shall try to represent these corporate houses as accurately as possible citing from external (newspapers, business articles, blogs) and internal (company website) sources.
