Twenty-one-year-old posh scouse student of history and international relations currently living in Southern California. Besides my primary subjects, my interest lies in archaeology, anthropology and linguistics. At the degree level, my studies have focused on the United States, early mediaeval Europe, the Aegean bronze age, early modern England and post-Soviet international politics. Before that I was focused primarily on republican Rome and classical Greek architecture. I am fascinated by the history of all regions and periods, and I wouldn't currently say I have a particular area of specialisation.
In terms of historical theory, I ascribe a great deal of importance to culture, civilisation and religion, all of which I believe are essential rather than constructed. This in turn influences my IR, leaving me somewhere between classical realism and the English school.
My real passion is travel. While I like shorter trips, I prefer to spend longer periods of time in one place either studying or working. Right now I've lived in two countries, and I'm hoping to check off two more within the next three years by working in Australia or New Zealand and studying somewhere in mainland Europe.
