Evaluation of Slime Layer

[edit]

This is where you will complete your article evaluation. Please use the template below to evaluate your selected article.

  • Name of article: Slime layer
  • I have chosen to edit this article because I think that slime layers are an interesting adaptation bacteria have come up with to defend themselves against attackers.

  • Does the Lead include an introductory sentence that concisely and clearly describes the article's topic?
  • Does the Lead include a brief description of the article's major sections?
  • Does the Lead include information that is not present in the article?
  • Is the Lead concise or is it overly detailed?

[edit]

In general this article is barely a paragraph long. The lead sentence is informative, and describes the topic.

There are no major sections to describe, and the lead is incredibly concise.

The sources listed are current, only a few years old. There could be more sources used to fully expand on the information provided. The links to the articles work, but they seem to be just websites. I think finding primary sources would be useful.

  • Does the article have any grammatical or spelling errors?

  • How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?

Only a singular question was asked, and it wonders how directly slime layer is related to biofilm production. This is something I would like to look into.

[edit]

I would say that this article is very underdeveloped and shows a lot of promise. The article can have images and media added as a supplement. I think that a great deal of description can be added on the structure and purpose of the slime layer.
