From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Water level management is the close control of water levels within a hydrological catchment. It is a term that combines and balances the functions of land drainage, flood risk management, irrigation and wetland restoration. It is an essential practice within lowland areas such as the Somerset Levels, Fens and Polders which would otherwise be permanently flooded.
