About me

[edit]

Welcome to my Wikipedia! I am currently a college student who wants to be a chemistry professor in the future. I used to live with my family, including two adorable dogs[1]. I'm from the Republic of Korea, also known as South Korea. I was in California as an exchange student in a public high school for a year, and I loved it. I wanted to stay in the United States, so I took a GED and went to college. I was afraid of being a college student and have been homesick since last year, but I overcame it by thinking of my family, who cheer on me from a place 10 hours away by plane. I love studying chemistry and want to know more. I dream of studying chemistry and being a scientist who will help this world and people, so I wrote a paper about cancer with friends and participated in many science competitions, especially on chemistry. As a student, I am learning chemistry, nursing, and English. I hope I can speak English as well as natives in the future.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

As I mentioned in Bio, I love to know and study chemistry. I used to use Wikipedia to investigate scientists and the history of chemistry. But for now, I am not an expert, still learning chemistry. So, I would like to work on Korean culture[2] and my hometown, Daejeon, or to change some typos for help as a volunteer. Also, I want to write some information for students who will come to the United States as exchange students. I want to share my experience and my accomplishments or journey with people to help people as best as I can. For instance, I will share my experience of taking a GED, participating in competitions, writing a paper, high school life in Korea, and life in California as an exchange student. Also, I have some hobbies like crocheting, so I might work on my interests which do not require expertise. Over the long term, After studying more about chemistry and gaining some knowledge, I want to work on the chemistry part on Wikipedia.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Chemical crystals are the ones that led me to love chemistry, so I naturally encounter crystal chemistry. I want people to feel familiar with chemistry as I did. Considering my wish, I visited the Crystal chemistry article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: It does not include any history or achievement in this study, It does not explain enough identity of chemical crystals, and this article does not cite sources.

History and Achievement

[edit]

I have read Linus Carl Pauling's biography and noticed he had an impact on crystal chemistry. As experimental results of crystal structure analysis are stacked, Crystal chemistry has steadily developed, starting with V.M. Goldschmidt's submission of the rules for ionic crystals.[3] Also, the other chemistry study articles deal with various topics, for example, related fields, and history. However, the Crystal Chemistry article does not include any of these.

differentiation of Crystal chemistry

[edit]

This article defined crystal chemistry as "the study of the principles of the chemistry behind crystals and their use in describing structure-property relations in solids." but It does not explain enough. Some experts suggest a better description: a field of study that investigates the relationship between crystal structure, chemical composition, and chemical bonds and synthesizes the rules identified there. Also, this article does not make clear the differences between crystal chemistry, chemistry, crystallography, and chemical crystallography. Crystal chemistry is a border area between crystallography and chemistry, and the difference from chemical crystallography is that crystal chemistry takes its object from substances. I hope this article clearly shows its distinction from other disciplines.

Citation

[edit]

I could not find citations anywhere, from the definition of crystal chemistry to the end. Therefore, I cannot give reliability. I believe many materials can be cited, such as explanations, articles, and theses regarding academics listed by the university.

Conclusion

[edit]

In general, this article looks like a lot needs to be improved. There seems to be a need to accurately define and classify studies by referring to multiple sources. Additionally, since there is no cited data, I cannot say this article is reliable and includes enough information to explain the study. In addition, it seems necessary to accurately define and classify studies by referring to various sources. I think this article has great potential because there are lots of sources to add, such as history, achievements, and related papers.
