International development

In recent years under FIFTA futnet has not experienced any significant development and numerous problems within its structure have hindered any real progress. Statutory non-compliance, arbitrary decisions by the executive, virtually non-existent promotion of the sport in general and its official competitions in particular and other serious issues reached their peak in 2010 and led a group of countries, including the strongest member Czech Republic with over 7000 registered players, to the decision to leave FIFTA. With the aim to promote the sport in line with the principles of democracy and transparency, a new world-governing body Union Internationale de Futnet (UNIF) was founded in October 2010 in Geneva. Of former FIFTA members and candidate countries, among the founding members were France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Catalonia, Argentina, Australia and Costa Rica, joined by Poland, Denmark, Malaysia, Basque Country, South Africa, US, England and in early 2011 by Ukraine.
