Ahmed Farag (Conductor)

Ahmed Farag started his musical studies at the Cairo Conservatoire at the age of ten, as he attended the Oboe Class with the Polish Professor Eric Kosinski. At age of eighteen, Ahmed Farag pursued his studies at the Haute école de musique de Genève where he obtained his Master of Performance for Oboe in 2013, and Master of Conducting in 2015. He studied Oboe in the class of Roland Perrenoud, Maurice Bourges, and Alexei Ogrintchouk, and Conducting in the class of Laurent Gay. He joined many masterclasses for Oboe and Conducting with world famous musicians in Switzerland, France and Germany.

Ahmed Farag played with many orchestras in Egypt and Europe, such as Cairo Opera Orchestra, Cairo Symphony Orchestra, West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Geneva.

He also conducted many orchestras like Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Cairo Opera Orchestra, Alexandria Opera House String Orchestra, and Bibliotheca Alexandrina Strings Chamber Orchestra in Egypt; and Karlovy-Vary Symphony Orchestra in Czech Republic, and Salvador de Bahia Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in Brazil. He worked as an assistant conductor for Maestro Alexander Joel at the Geneva Theatre for the opera project of Rigoletto, and for Maestro Julien Salemkour in Poland for the opera Project of Fidelio.

Ahmed Farag had many opportunities to conduct many orchestras with diverse and large programs including symphonies, operas, and ballets. His repertoire as a conductor includes works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Rossini, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Buckner, Mahler, Bartók, Stravinsky, Debussy, Ravel, and Honegger.

Also In 2015 until 2021, he was the Principal Oboe at the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. Since the beginning of the season 2022, he has contracted as an Orchestra and Choir Conductor at the Cairo Opera House.
