Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore is a direct wholly owned subsidiary of Tokio Marine Asia. It is one of the leading general insurers based in Singapore.
History
[edit]In 1957, Tokio Marine started its Singapore operations through a General Agent and in 1977, Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance Company (Singapore) Pte. Limited ("TMS") was incorporated in Singapore. In 2007, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd ("TMNF") acquired a majority stake in Asia General Holdings limited ("AGH") which wholly owns The Asia Insurance Co. Ltd (AIC). AIC began its operation since 1923 in Singapore, and was renamed TM Asia Insurance Singapore Ltd ("TMAIS"). In July 2008, TMAIS acquired the general insurance business of TMS to form Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd ("TMiS").[1]
In 2015, Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd ("TMiS") together with Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd (“TMLS”) successfully underwent a corporate rebranding campaign under the Tokio Marine Insurance Group label. With the re-launch, Tokio Marine Insurance Group has since embarked on strategic sponsorships with local and regional TV platforms like Channel NewsAsia and FOX Cable Network.[2]
