I am a retired Army officer. Since the death of my mother and father I have been interested in family history. I was born in New Mexico and attended New Mexico A & M College. My heritage contains the proper names of Burton, Pickens, Johnson, Overbury, Overby among others. I have recently been given a large Holy Bible given to a great, great uncle named John Hamilton Pickens. He worked for a famous cattle rancher known operated by the Blocker Brothers. The Bible is inscribed as a gift from the Blocker Brothers in Dodge City, Kansas in November 1880. This Bible was published by the A. P. Foster &Co, 730 Elm Street, Dallas, Texas. There is a great deal of marriage, birth, death information on the center pages. I want to know more about Uncle John Hamilton Pickens and the publisher of this Bible.
