Matt Moore (American Football Coach)
[edit]Matt Moore is an American college football coach from Canton, Georgia. He has served in various coaching roles, specializing in the development of offensive linemen. As of December 2024, he is the offensive line coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Early Life and Playing Career
[edit]Moore attended Valdosta State University, where he played as an offensive lineman for the Valdosta State Blazers. His collegiate playing career laid the foundation for his transition to coaching.
Coaching Career

[edit]Moore began his coaching career at the high school level before becoming a graduate assistant at Valdosta State University. His work focused on player development and technical skill-building.
Troy University
[edit]Moore joined Troy University’s coaching staff in 2006 as an offensive line coach. After a hiatus, he returned in 2015, contributing to the program's offensive successes. Promoted to offensive coordinator in 2018, he helped lead the team to achievements including a 10–3 record in 2016, a Sun Belt Conference championship in 2017, and several nationally recognized offensive line performances.[1]
Texas Tech University
[edit]From 2008 to 2012, Moore coached the offensive line at Texas Tech University. During his tenure, the offensive line led the nation in pass protection in 2008 and contributed to the team’s high-powered offense.[2]
Middle Tennessee State University
[edit]In 2012, Moore served as the offensive line coach at Middle Tennessee State University. His offensive line ranked second nationally in fewest sacks allowed that season.[3]
Louisiana Tech University
[edit]From 2013 to 2015, Moore worked at Louisiana Tech as the offensive line coach and assistant head coach. Despite personnel challenges, he helped the Bulldogs achieve an 8–5 record in 2014 and a Conference USA West Division title.[3]
West Virginia University
[edit]Moore joined West Virginia University in 2019 as the offensive line coach and assistant head coach under Neal Brown. During his tenure, the offensive line saw significant improvements, contributing to the team's offensive strategies.[4]
Virginia Tech
[edit]In December 2024, Moore was hired as the offensive line coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies under head coach Brent Pry.[5]
Coaching Philosophy
